Kathy Calvin, President and CEO

Kathy Calvin was selected as CEO in 2009 and President in 2013. Prior to leading the UNF, she was President of the AOL Time Warner Foundation and has held many other leadership roles. She has applied her expertise in philanthropic activities to create greater exposure for the UNF, develop innovative practices within the organization, and ultimately connect the private sector to the work of the United Nations. According to her biography on the United Nations Foundation website, in 2011, Kathy was named one of Newsweek’s “150 Women Who Rock the World,” and in 2012, she was listed in Fast Company’s “League of Extraordinary Women.” She kicked off the Social Good Summit as one of the first speakers.

Aaron Sherinian, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer

Aaron Sherinian has been running head-first since he joined the UNF in 2009. He is the mastermind behind the Social Good Summit, #GivingTuesday, Rio+Social and the Momentum1000 global social media rally. Aaron has extensive experience overseas as a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State. He has worked at U.S. Embassies in Ecuador, Armenia, and Costa Rica. Fun fact: he speaks Italian, Armenian, and French! After his role with the U.S. Department of State, Aaron was the Managing Director of Public Affairs for the Millennium Challenge Corporation, which is a U.S. government development assistance agency that administers poverty reduction grants. Without him the Social Good Summit would not have happened, so we applaud Aaron for all of his hard work! Follow him on Twitter @ASherinian for more updates and details about his projects at the UNF.

Anna Mahalak, Manager of Youth Engagement, UNA-USA

Anna recently started her position with the UNA-USA in May 2016. Before joining the UNF, Anna worked in the George Washington University’s Division of Student Affairs as a Coordinator for Planning and Outreach. Even though Anna was not on stage, she was active behind the scenes promoting social media posts that the UNA-USA Blogger Fellows had posted and organizing logistics for the Fellows. When Anna is not at the Social Good Summit, she oversees the day-to-day operations of all GenUN programs and activities, U.S. Youth Observer to the UN program, and coordinates Young Professionals engagement. Nicol Perez, U.S. Observer to the United Nations

Nicol’s current role as the U.S. Youth Observer to the UN allows her to correspond with many young Americans about the work of the UN and inspire them to be active participants in global policy dialogue. She is also working at Instagram in Menlo Park, California, where she is in the Product Marketing Communications Department. Nicol is using her social media expertise to recognize issues prevalent to U.S. youth. Prior to beginning her professional career, Nicol studied marketing at the University of Florida. You can follow her travels on Twitter @USYouthObserver and learn more about the role of Youth Observer.
