It is likely not marked on your calendar, and you have probably never heard of it—but March 20 is the International Day of Happiness. (And no, it was not invented by Hallmark!) The day was started in 2012 when all 193 United Nations member states adopted a resolution calling for happiness to be given greater priority.
Oftentimes, it can be easy for people to forget about a simple feeling such as “being happy”. However, not only is happiness a worldwide concept, but it is probably the most desirable emotion on the planet. To celebrate this awesome day, UNA-USA invites you to spread happiness in your communities, and what better way is there to do so than by celebrating the amazing progress of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)?
This year, UNA-USA is happy to announce our “Take Action - Be Happy” campaign. We invite your chapter members to pick their favorite SDG and share its progress on social media! Be sure to use these helpful resources to help your chapter celebrate this special day. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #HappyDay2018.
In addition, we challenge your chapter members to come with ideas to take action for the SDG’s. We want to hear your brilliant suggestions so that together, we can can help achieve these ambitious goals by 2030! Lastly, don’t forget to have fun! Encourage your community to learn more about the SDG’s progress so that they too can help spread #Happiness!
