Support the UN Humanitarian Response in Nepal

A massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated Nepal on April 25, 2015, affecting a reported 35 of the country’s 75 districts and causing more than 2,200 deaths, over 5,000 injuries, and significant damage to cultural heritage sites. The government of Nepal has requested assistance to address critical humanitarian needs.

The United Nations humanitarian system is urgently responding to the crisis:

  • The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is providing personnel to help coordinate search and rescue efforts, among other actions;
  • The World Food Programme is providing food and trucks for distribution; and

Additionally, the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) collects donations year-round so there is a pool of money available to respond quickly to disasters, such as earthquakes. You can donate to CERF to help the UN provide immediate relief to people in their time of need.
